Data Status. The following types of data are available in the chart:
- Final: Calculations done utilizing official statistics.
- Preliminary: Estimates based on non-consolidated data, which will be recalculated/revised as consolidated data become available.
About Isobutane. Isobutane is the simplest alkane with a tertiary carbon. It is a colorless gas with a faint petroleum-like odor, shipped as a liquefied gas under vapor pressure. It is an important component of natural gasoline, refinery gases, wet natural gas, and is also obtained by isomerization of butane. Isobutane is highly flammable and presents explosive risk.
Commercial Grades. technical grade (N1.5 - 95 mol% concentration of Isobutane); pure grade (N2.0 - 99 mol% concentration of Isobutane; and instrument grade (N2.5 - 99.5 mol% concentration of Isobutane).
Uses. Isobutane is mainly used as refrigerant; motor fuel additive; aerosol propellant; instruments calibration fluid; solvent; and in the production of synthetic rubbers.
