Sodium Bicarbonate Price Outlook. The price of Sodium Bicarbonate (United States) increased during June 2020 to 702 USD per metric ton, which represents a slight rise of 4% compared to the previous month’s value. On a year-over-year basis, the prices of Sodium Bicarbonate (United States) increased significantly by 32%. Meanwhile, the average price of Sodium Bicarbonate (China) amounted to 206 USD per metric ton, from 240 USD per metric ton one year earlier. On a month-over-month basis, the price of Sodium Bicarbonate (China) is 4% lower than the price one month before.

About Sodium Bicarbonate
About Sodium Bicarbonate. Sodium Bicarbonate (a.k.a. Baking Soda, NaHCO3) is a salt that is found as white granules or crystalline powder. Its natural mineral form is nahcolite and it is found dissolved in many mineral springs. It decomposes when heated releasing carbon dioxide. Sodium Bicarbonate is mainly used as an antacid and food anticaking agent.
Sodium Bicarbonate Handling. Sodium hydrogencarbonate tends to form lumps in the presence of moisture or under pressure. On heating to > 60 °C, appreciable decomposition to sodium carbonate occurs. The bicarbonate readily picks up odors from its surroundings and should therefore be stored under dry, airtight containers and should be kept in well-ventilated and dry places. Also, it should be stored away from excessive heat and acids. This material can be packed and stored in 25 kg polypropylene bags or four-layer 25 kg paper bags with polyethylene liners. It is not listed as dangerous cargo.
