By far the most important application of DAP is as fertilizer. In addition to being an excellent source of phosphorous (P) and nitrogen (N) for plant nutrition, it combines outstanding properties that make it in fact one of the most important fertilizers, such as high solubility and alkaline pH around the dissolving granules. To a lesser extent, DAP is also used as fire retardant, in metal finishing, yeast/microbial fermentation nutrient, sugar purification and precipitation control.
