Nitrocellulose Price Outlook. The price of Nitrocellulose (United States) decreased during January 2020 to 3,210 USD per metric ton, which represents a considerable decline of 17% compared to the previous month’s value. On a year-over-year basis, the prices of Nitrocellulose (United States) decreased significantly by 8%. Meanwhile, the average price of Nitrocellulose (Southeast Asia) amounted to 2,400 USD per metric ton, from 2,610 USD per metric ton one year earlier. On a month-over-month basis, the price of Nitrocellulose (Southeast Asia) was flat.

About Nitrocellulose. Nitrocellulose is the most important inorganic esther of cellulose, although it has been replaced by cheaper and less flammable options for some applications. It is a white solid soluble in ethanol, but not in water. If the solution is spilled, the solvent evaporates and leaves a very flammable plastic film that produces toxic fumes when ignited.
Nitrocellulose Handling. It must be store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. It is necessary to keep away with incompatible substances, heat and ignition sources. It can be stored in drums, being these sealed and in upright position.
