About Hot Dipped Galvanized Coil. Hot Dipped Galvanized Coil consists of rolled iron/steel sheets or strips coated by zinc and iron-zinc alloys after submersion in the liquid metal. The coiled metal can be either hot or cold-rolled, depending on the desired properties, with the cold-rolled material being a further processed hot-rolled product with better finishing and improved mechanical properties. After coiling, the product is immersed in a bath of molten zinc covered with a layer of molten flux. The process is repeated until the desired thickness is acquired, each time increasing the zinc content until the last layer, composed of pure zinc. The surface of the final product is formed by a crystallized pattern called 'sprangle'.

Because of that, it must be shipped carefully in a way to prevent straining or otherwise damaging the shipping container, whether transport is carried out by ship, truck or train. Also, attention is needed in the packaging, stowage, and lashing operations.
