Rock Phosphate

About Rock Phosphate. Rock Phosphate is a gray or brown non-detrital sedimentary rock containing high amounts of phosphate minerals. It's deposits occur in extensive layers, which cumulatively covers 10.000 km² of the Earth's crust Rock phosphate can be solubilized to produce wet-process phosphoric acid or smelted to produce elemental phosphorus, being approximately 90% of the produced rock used as fertilizer and animal feed supplements.

Rock Phosphate Handling. Rock phosphate must be stored and transported away from some other fertilizers like ammonium phosphates and incompatible compounds to avoid nutrient losses. Rock phosphate can be transported by rail, truck and ship.

Rock Phosphate Production. Raw materials and the respective production processes employed in the manufacturing of Rock Phosphate are listed below.

Rock Phosphate Uses. The uses and applications of Rock Phosphate may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Rock Phosphate are 66-68 (BPL of 66-68%, P2O5 content of 30-31%), 68-70 (BPL of 68-70%, P2O5 content of 31-32%), and 70-72 (BPL of 70-72%, P2O5 content of 32-33%)
