Polyvinyl Alcohol (a.k.a. PVOH) is a water-soluble synthetic thermoplastic polymer. It is usually available in film, pallets or aqueous solution, with the film having oil resistance, toughness and high tensile strength. Polyvinyl alcohol has a good biocompatibility, biodegradability and hydrophilicity, making it one of the few materials that can be used in biomedical fields. Its main uses are in the paper, plastic, fishing and medical/pharmaceutical areas.
