Calcium Hydroxide (a.k.a. Hydrated Lime, Slaked Lime) is an inorganic compound, readily obtained from the reaction of calcium oxide with water, a process called slaking. It is a strong base that has limited water solubility and is, therefore, often used as a suspension. Calcium hydroxide, due to its alkaline properties and its low cost, is widely used in industrial applications, such as water and industrial waste treatment, refining of beet and sugar cane and in corn treatment.
