About Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil. Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil is a stainless steel product produced by passing a heated metal piece through rolls in three steps: primary rolling, conditioning, and finish rolling. In the first operation, ingots are broken down into semifinished shapes, such as blooms, billets, slabs, and rounds, by reducing cross-section and increasing length. During the process, the ingots are constantly reheated to achieve a homogeneous temperature, guaranteeing plasticity during rolling. In the conditioning process, some defects from the previous step must be removed, depending on the application of the final products. During the finish rolling, the piece is worked to obtain the desired finished shape of a sheet or strip, and a final heat treatment can be applied to enhance the microstructure. Rolling is used for thickness reduction, and an already rolled stainless steel sheet can undergo the same process to achieve further reduction and properties enhancement. Due to the heating during forming, hot rolling is a quicker and cheaper process than cold rolling, losing some strength qualities. At the end of the process, the metal sheet is coiled, cooled, and prepared to be marketed.
Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil Handling. The coils are heavy, and this weight is concentrated. Because of that, it must be shipped carefully, preventing straining or otherwise damaging the shipping container, whether transport is carried out by ship, truck, or train. Also, attention is needed in the packaging, stowage, and lashing operations.
Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil Uses. The uses and applications of Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Hot Rolled Stainless Steel Coil are austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, and precipitation-hardening stainless steel. Each of these forms has a specific chemical composition, in addition to iron, varying the percentage of carbon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, nitrogen, and manganese, among others, such as titanium, aluminum, tantalum, and niobium. Usually, the coils have a width of about 1500 mm and a thickness of approximately 4 mm.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec Primary Commodity Prices are produced from a data-driven, mathematical approach, which starts with the extraction of data from various primary sources, including official trade records, statistics bureaus, governmental and international agencies. Such large volume of data is validated through advanced data processing techniques, and treated by means of statistical analysis for outliers removal. When faced with input gaps, data scientists and engineers employ mathematical models or machine learning techniques to estimate prices and ensure the completeness of the price assessments presented.
