Octene Production Costs - Q2 2023
Octene Operating Costs & Plants Capital Investment
Octene (a.k.a. Octenes) refers to a group of alkene isomers having eight carbons, differing in the position of the double bond in the carbon chain. Diverse isomers of octene are known, and 1-Octene is one of the most relevants. 1-Octene is an alpha-olefin used primarily as a comonomer in production of polyethylene (HDPE and LLDPE). Octenes in general are used to alkylate phenols to give precursors to detergents and surfactants. They can also be hydrated to yield octanols, or hydroformilated to fatty acids, which are then treated with polyols to produce esters for use in high performance application lubricants.
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Octene production costs. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2023).
Octenes Production from Butenes
This report presents an economic analysis for the production of Mixed Octenes starting from butenes. In this process, butenes are dimerized to octenes, using an organometalic catalyst. The study concerns a plant based on a process similar to Axens Dimersol-X and located in the United States.
Details: 240 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2023 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Octene E11A target a 240 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
1-Octene Production from Mixed C4s
This report presents the economics of 1-Octene production from mixed C4 hydrocarbons in the United States. The analysis assumes a plant employing a process similar to the technology owned by Dow Chemicals that highlights a butadiene telomerization for 1-octene generation.
Details: 110 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2023 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Octene E12A target a 110 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
1-Octene Production from Mixed C7s
In this study, it is approached the economics of 1-Octene production starting from mixed C7 hydrocarbons. The analysis is based on a United States-based plant using a process similar to the technology owned by Sasol. In this process, 1-heptene is submitted to hydroformylation through a Fischer-Tropsch process and subsequent dehydration.
Details: 110 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2023 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Octene E21A target a 110 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
1-Octene Production from Synfuels
This feasibility study concerns the production of 1-Octene starting from synthetic gasoline. It assumes a plant located in the United States, employing a process also owned by Sasol that uses synthetic gasoline as the start material.
Details: 110 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2023 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Octene E31A target a 110 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
