ICC - Process Overview Text: <h6>Product</h6> <p><b>Epoxy Resin</b>. Epoxy Resins consist of polymeric materials presenting more than one three-membered ring known as the epoxide group. Most of the industrially important epoxy resins are bi- or multifunctional epoxides. There is a great variety of types of epoxy resins, which can be cured or uncured with varying properties. Liquid Epoxy Resins (LER), Solid Epoxy Resins (SER) and Bisphenol F are major examples of uncured Epoxy Resins; while Phenol Novolac Epoxy Resins (EPN) and Cresol Novolac Epoxy Resins (ECN) are examples of cured resins.</p> <h6>Raw Materials</h6> <p><b>BPA</b>. Bisphenol A is a high volume production organic compound, synthesized from phenol and acetone. It has been produced in commercial since the 1950's and is mostly used in the production of polycarbonate plastic and epoxy resins. Nowadays its use in products with contact with food has been decreasing, mostly in the United States, due to a rising concern on the negative health effects it might cause.</p> <b>Epoxy Resins</b>. Epoxy Resins are essential polymers used in coatings, adhesives, and composite materials. Their excellent adhesion, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties make them widely used in the construction, automotive, and electronics sectors. Epoxy resins are produced through the reaction of epichlorohydrin with bisphenol-A. They are typically stored as liquids or semi-solids and are supplied to manufacturers for use in high-performance materials.</p>
