Chilled water is widely used in industrial plants, for removing heat from components and industrial equipment at temperatures below those achievable with cooling water or air. Basically, the chilled water is circulated through heat exchangers and other equipment for the absorption of heat, which is further rejected by cooling it against a refrigerant fluid. The refrigerant is then cooled back in a chiller via compression /cooling/expansion.
