Pyrantel Embonate) is a medication belonging to the class of drugs known as anthelmintics, with activity against intestinal nematodes, such as pinworm, hookworms and roundworms. It is used mainly in the oral treatment of domesticated animals infected with these parasites. Pyrantel Pamoate acts as a depolarizing neuromuscular-blocking agent causing longstanding nicotinic receptor activation, resulting in spastic paralysis of susceptible nematodes.
