Green BTX Production from Wood Chips
This report presents the economics of the production of a mixture of Benzene, Toluene and Xylenes (BTX) from wood chips. The economic analysis is based on a plant located in the United States. First, the biomass is dried and crushed. Then, the wood sawdust undergoes catalytic fast pyrolysis (CFP) yielding an effluent syngas composed of aromatics, olefins and volatiles. BTX is finally separated from the other components.

BTX Production from Ethane
In this study, the process reviewed is a typical aromatization process producing a mixture of Benzene, Toluene and Xylenes (BTX) from ethane. In this analysis, ethane is first dehydrogenated to ethylene, which is oligomerized. The oligomers then cyclize to form naphthenes. They are finally dehydrogenated, yielding aromatics. The economic assessment assumes a plant located in the United States.
