It is a white solid soluble in ethanol, but not in water. If the solution is spilled, the solvent evaporates and leaves a very flammable plastic film that produces toxic fumes when ignited.
Nitrocellulose Handling. It must be store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. It is necessary to keep away with incompatible substances, heat and ignition sources. It can be stored in drums, being these sealed and in upright position.
