About Melamine
About Melamine. Melamine is an organic base, a trimer of cyanamide and occurs as colorless to white crystals or powder. It is used as a fire retardant agent in resins due to nitrogen gas release when burned. Melamine resins are also known to be durable thermoplastics. While commercially produced from urea, melamine is also produced in mammals and plants due to the ingestion of cyromazine, a pesticide.
Melamine Handling. Melamine is transported in paper bags and semibulk bags. Bulk shipment is by truck and railroad car. It should be stored in closed containers in vented areas away from acids and oxidizers, and protected from moisture, as it can pack and lump over greater storage periods.
Melamine Production. Raw materials and the respective production processes employed in the manufacturing of Melamine are listed below.
- Urea (low-pressure catalytic process),
- Urea (high-pressure catalytic process)
Melamine Uses. The uses and applications of Melamine may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Melamine are minimum 99.0% purity
