About Copper Scrap
About Copper Scrap. Copper Scrap consists in Copper parts or products unsuitable for sale, or discarded metallic material from various sources. It may be reclaimed by melting and refining processes, which require presorting the material to decrease contaminants. Copper is a metal widely used in industry because it has desirable properties such as high ductility, malleability, electrical and thermal conductivity and resistance to corrosion. It is among the most valuable metals available when it comes to scrap collection and recycling, which gives copper scrap its own economical relevance.
As a recycling material, copper scrap has various impurities and contaminants, such as insulating wiring varnish, paint, coatings, solder, oxidation and even alloyed metals. Naturally, the higher the copper content, the simpler the recovery process and the more valuable the scrap.
Copper Scrap Handling. Copper Scrap can be stored in big bags, on pallets or pressed in bundles, and in a dry area. It can be transported by rail, truck, and/or ship.
Copper Scrap Uses. There are four primary types of copper scrap: bare bright copper, grade #1 copper, grade #2 copper, and light copper (AKA grade #3 copper)
