About Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil

About Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil. Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil is a carbon steel product produced by passing an unheated metal piece through rolls, resulting in a sheet or strip with improvements in surface imperfections and mechanical properties, with little occurrence of defects such as seams and slivers according to the process conditions. Cold-rolling is used for thickness reduction and can be associated with other improvement steps, such as annealing, tempering, and edging, depending on the application of the final product, and an already rolled carbon steel sheet can undergo the same process to achieve a further reduction and properties enhancement. At the end of the process, the metal sheet is coiled and prepared to be marketed.

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil Handling. The coils are heavy, and this weight is concentrated. Because of that, it must be shipped carefully in a way to prevent straining or otherwise damaging the shipping container, whether transport is carried out by ship, truck or train. Also, attention is needed in the packaging, stowage, and lashing operations.

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil Uses. The uses and applications of Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Coil are commercial quality sheet (for moderate forming, bending in any direction at room temperature: SAE 1008 / AISE 1012); drawing quality sheet (for intense forming, bending in any direction at room temperature and having a uniform chemical composition: SAE 1006 / AISE 1008); drawing quality special skilled sheet (for severe forming, bending in any direction at room temperature and having a uniform chemical composition: SAE 1006 / AISE 1008); and structural quality (for specific elongations and strength values, up to 1035 MPa).
