Chromium Trioxide Price Outlook. The price of Chromium Trioxide (United States) decreased during July 2020 to 3,060 USD per metric ton, which represents a considerable decline of 21% compared to the previous month’s value. On a year-over-year basis, the prices of Chromium Trioxide (United States) decreased by 5%. Meanwhile, the average price of Chromium Trioxide (China) amounted to 2,430 USD per metric ton, from 3,100 USD per metric ton one year earlier. On a month-over-month basis, the price of Chromium Trioxide (China) is 11% lower than the price one month before.

About Chromium Trioxide. Chromium Trioxide (a.k.a. Chromium(VI) Oxide) is the acidic anhydride of chromic acid and it is found as dark red flakes, crystals, or powder. Chromium Trioxide is corrosive and is a strong oxidizing agent. It emits toxic chromium fumes upon heating. Chromium Trioxide can cause bronchitis and pneumonia, can affect the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, liver, and immune system, and is also a known carcinogen.
Chromium Trioxide Handling. Chromium Trioxide is transported by rail in tank cars in steel drums, paper bags, fiber drums, and polyethylene drums. Cans with capacities of 25 and 50 kg are also available. It should be stored in tightly closed containers in a dry and well-ventilated place and must be kept away from heat, strong oxidizing materials, any volatile solvents, or products containing alcohol.
