The price of Aluminum Scrap (United States) decreased during March 2025 to 2,560 USD per metric ton, which represents a slight decline of 0.8% compared to the previous month’s value. It may be reclaimed by melting and refining processes, which require presorting the material to decrease contaminants. Special techniques, such as melting in molten salt and ablative melting avoid large losses when recycling oily scrap, lightweight cans, foil, etc. Due to the demand for high-quality Aluminum, degassing treatments are required to remove hydrogen from the molten metal before it is poured.
