NaOH
Caustic Soda (a.k.a. Sodium Hydroxide, NaOH, Lye) is a major inorganic compound, used in several industries. It is a white, translucent crystalline solid. It is commonly referred to as caustic soda due to its corrosive action on many substances - it decomposes proteins at room temperatures and may cause chemical burn to human bodies. Although it does not occur in nature, sodium hydroxide has been manufactured on large scale for many years from readily obtainable raw materials and is used in numerous industrial processes.

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Caustic Soda production costs. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q4 2022).

Sodium Hydroxide Production from Sodium Chloride (Membrane Process)

This report presents the economics of Sodium Hydroxide production from sodium chloride in the United States, via a typical membrane process. In this process, sodium chloride is decomposed electrolytically, producing sodium hydroxide. Chlorine and hydrogen are generated as by-products in the process.

Details: 550 kta United States-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   107 pages   From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E11A target a 550 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Sodium Hydroxide Production from Sodium Chloride (Diaphragm Process)

It presents the economics of Sodium Hydroxide production from brine in the United States. The process examined in this report is a typical diaphragm process. Chlorine and hydrogen are also generated as by-products in the process.

Details: 600 kta United States-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   107 pages   From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E12A target a 600 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Sodium Hydroxide Production from Sodium Chloride (Mercury Process)

This report analyses the economics of Sodium Hydroxide production from brine in Germany, via a typical mercury cell process. In this process, sodium chloride is decomposed electrolytically, producing sodium hydroxide. Chlorine and hydrogen are generated as by-products in the process.

Details: 220 kta Germany-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   106 pages   From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E13B target a 220 kta (kilometric tons per annum) Germany-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Sodium Hydroxide Production from Lime and Sodium Carbonate

This report presents the economics of Sodium Hydroxide production from lime and sodium carbonate in the United States, via a conventional lime-soda process. In this process, calcium hydroxide is generated by treating lime with water. Then, calcium hydroxide reacts with soda ash. Besides Sodium Hydroxide, Precipitated Calcium Carbonate is also obtained as product.

Details: 100 kta United States-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E21A target a 100 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Sodium Hydroxide Flakes Production

This report presents the economics of solid caustic soda flakes production starting from a 50 wt% caustic soda solution in water. In this process, caustic soda is concentrated to about 99 wt% and the resulting melt is cooled and processed into flakes. The analysis is based on plant located in the United States.

Details: 60 kta United States-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   106 pages   From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E31A target a 60 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Sodium Hydroxide from Sodium Chloride (HCl as Co-Product)

This report presents the economics of a Sodium Hydroxide production via a typical membrane process integrated with the production of hydrochloric acid. In this process, sodium chloride is decomposed electrolytically producing sodium hydroxide, chlorine and hydrogen. Hydrogen and chlorine are reacted forming hydrogen chloride, which is subsequently absorbed in water to produce an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. The analysis is based on plant located in the United States.

Details: 500 kta United States-based plant   |   Q4 2022   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Sodium Hydroxide E41A target a 500 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
