Nylon 6 (a.k.a. Polycaprolactam, Polyamide 6), also known as Polycaprolactam, is one of the principal commercial nylons along with Nylon 6-6. The term ‘Nylon’ refers basically to polyamides, which are high polymers containing the amide repeat linkage in the polymer backbone. Those polymers not only were the first engineering thermoplastics but still are the most important ones among these types of material.

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Nylon 6 production. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2019).

You can find below reports focused on Nylon 6 production processes available in report subscriptions offered by Intratec.

Nylon 6 Production from Caprolactam - Cost Analysis | Nylon 6 E12A

This report presents the economics of Nylon 6 production from caprolactam in the USA. The process examined is a typical continuous ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam via the hydrolytic mechanism, carried out in two stages, similar to technologies developed/licensed by Thyssenkrupp (Uhde Inventa-Fischer) and Air Liquide (Lurgi Zimmer). An aminoacid is the intermediate for condensation.
