Polyurethane (a.k.a. PU) are a group of polymers with great industrial importance. Polyurethanes are produced by the polyaddition of polyisocianates with polyalcohols, forming the characteristic urethane group as chain link. Its most popular end-products are flexible and rigid foams. Flexible foams are used for cushioning, upholstered furniture, and automobile seats, while rigid foams are used to produce insulation for roofs, refrigerators, and freezers.
