Fertilizers

Fertilizers are solid or liquid materials added to the soil to supply inorganic nutrients for the proper development and growth of plants, being nitrogen, phosphorus—as orthophosphate— and potassium the three principal nutrients.

Fertilizers commercialized in large scale are commonly specified in terms of their NPK ratio, which express the percentage by volume of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) in the fertilizer. These chemicals may also be classified as mineral fertilizers, if composed by inorganic compounds or organic compounds synthetically produced, as organic products, if produced from animal wastes, plant decomposition or waste treatment, and as synthetic conditioners, used to improve soil physical properties.

More than ever, fertilizers play a pivotal role in today's world - by supplying crops with the nutrients the soil lacks, fertilizers can double, or even triple crop yields.

Intratec provides the best-in-class reports examining production processes of fertilizers, with up-to-date analyses of capital and operating costs. We also offer a comprehensive online database of prices of fertilizers, across several countries, covering historical series and forecasts.
