Indexes & Pricing Data

About Indexes & Pricing Data

Intratec Indexes & Pricing data are online databases covering critical data surrounding industry-related markets. Currently, you can subscribe to access three online databases, as follows:

  • Chemicals Pricing Data. Online database of monthly prices of commodity chemicals, across several countries from main world regions. It presents historical prices since 2007. Short-term price forecasts are also available for selected chemicals. For more information, plans and pricing, hoover the mouse over 'Products' (top menu) and click on 'Chemicals Pricing Data'.
  • Utilities Cost Data. Online database of the historical costs of producing process engineering utilities, in several countries across the world. The cost data presented in our database represent operating costs of utility generation facilities, typically used to supply utilities to large-scale chemical production plants. For more information, plans and pricing, hoover the mouse over 'Products' (top menu) and click on 'Utilities Cost Data'.
  • Plant Construction Cost Indexes. Based on a robust methodology refined over several years, which involves constantly gathering and processing a huge amount of data from several countries, Intratec has created unique, specific indexes for estimating construction costs of chemical plants. Our Plant Cost Indexes enable scaling plants capital costs from one time period to another, in more than 16 countries. Our Location Factors simplify the conversion of known capital costs of plants located in the US to 15 other countries. For more information, plans and pricing, hoover the mouse over 'Products' (top menu) and click on 'Plant Construction Cost Indexes'.

The data presented in our Indexes & Pricing Databases are primarily drawn from public sources. This information is checked across several sources to verify and ensure integrity. If necessary, Intratec adjusts published data, for example, by reconciling trade data reported by exporting and importing countries.

Data presented in our Indexes & Pricing Databases is refreshed on a monthly basis, as new information is obtained. However, it is important to highlight that the frequency which specific regional data is actually updated depends on how often official sources from countries from those regions report that data.

In this context, by the end of each month - typically in the second or third week -, Intratec team updates Indexes & Pricing Data with data of the previous month.

Typically, our Indexes & Pricing Data cover data since the year 2007 to present. However the Plant Construction Index covers data since the year 2000 to present.

Yes, price forecasts are available, but only for specific chemicals, in specific countries. On the page of each chemical pricing data, in the respective chart description, it is informed whether or not price forecasts are presented for that chemical.

The forecast prices presented are based on estimates made by Intratec. Such estimates are derived from correlations with forecasts for (i) prices of main raw materials employed in the production of the chemical; (ii) main products manufactured from the chemical; and/or (iii) official industry/economic indexes.

Subscribers access the data they have subscribed for through online charts presented at the respective chemical/utility/index page, at Intratec website. Naturally, the subscriber must be logged in Intratec website (using the same email and password of the subscription) to access the data.

To have the best experience acessing Intratec's online databases, please use a computer desktop/laptop and an up-to-date browser - we suggest Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It is worth to highlight that Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported.

Finally, please note that Intratec does not send reports about Indexes & Pricing Data.

Please note that price forecasts presented in Intratec’s Chemical Pricing Data are meant to reflect what Intratec considers the most probable scenario for the upcoming nine months, as of the date such forecasts are updated. Put another way, the forecasts presented resulted from specific, ’frozen’ market conditions at the moment they were calculated. In this context, as the market parameters used for calculating the forecasts can change significantly in short periods of time, the forecasts are also updated on a monthly basis.

That is because you have subscribed for a 'Standard' plan. Please note that only subscribers of 'Pro' plans have access to forecast data and are able to download data as Excel, CSV and PNG files.

As previously mentioned, the data presented in our Indexes & Pricing Databases is primarily drawn from public sources, and is checked across several sources to verify and ensure integrity. Occasionally a specific public source stops reporting part of the data collected, or inconsistencies in the data are identified, in such a way that Intratec team deems appropriate to discontinue a specific pricing data series.

Please rest assured that, whenever this happens, Intratec team makes every effort to compensate users for such discontinuation, by adding either new pricing data series related to different regions or pricing data of more commodity chemicals.
