Current Prices and Historical Series in Several Countries
Introduction. Intratec provides Tetrachloroethylene prices in several countries, as follows:
About Tetrachloroethylene. Tetrachloroethylene (a.k.a. PERC) is a colorless liquid with a mild, etherlike odor. It is miscible with most organic solvents and is insoluble in water. It is the most stable of the chlorinated ethylenes and ethanes, requiring few stabilizers and having no flash point.
Chemical Formula. C2Cl4
Commercial Grades. Purified grade; technical grade; USP grade; spectrophotometric grade; dry-cleaning grade
Uses. Tetrachloroethylene is mainly used as dry-cleaning solvent; vapor-degreasing solvent; drying agent for metals; vermifuge; heat exchange fluid; extraction solvent for oils and fat; and flotation solvent in coal separation.
- Propane/ethane/propylene dichloride + chlorine (chlorinolysis)
- Ethylene dichloride + chlorine + oxygen (oxychlorination/dehydrochlorination)
- Acetylene + chlorine (addition/dehydrochlorination)
Derivatives. Tetrachloroethylene is used as raw material in the production of the following derivates: 1-chloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane; 1,1-dichlorotetrafluoroethane; 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane; pentafluoroethane; 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane
