Price Dynamics. The Stainless Steel price in United States decreased during September 2018 to 941 USD per metric ton, which represents a decline of 4% compared to the previous month’s value. On a year-over-year basis, Stainless Steel prices in United States decreased significantly by 17%. Meanwhile, in Germany, the average price of Stainless Steel amounted to 1,430 USD per metric ton, from 1,310 USD per metric ton one year earlier. On a month-over-month basis, the Stainless Steel price in Germany is 3% lower than the price one month before.
The price of Stainless Steel in Brazil rose slightly throughout September 2018, reaching 1,360 USD per metric ton. The price in Brazil is 2% higher than the average price in the previous month and 3% higher than the average price one year before. In contrast, Stainless Steel prices in India decreased significantly during September 2018, reaching 1,350 USD per metric ton, which means a decline of 9% from the previous month’s price and a rise of 21% from the previous year’s price.
The Stainless Steel prices in Sweden experienced a modest decline of 20 USD per metric ton from the prior month's price, to 1,580 USD per metric ton. Such price movement in Sweden meant a decrease of 1% on a monthly basis and a rise of 18% on a yearly basis. On the other hand, in September 2018, the Stainless Steel price in Taiwan was flat when compared against the previous month's price. The September 2018 price in Taiwan is 21% higher than the price one year before.

About Stainless Steel. Steel Scrap consists of Steel parts or products unsuitable for sale, or discarded metallic material from various sources. It can be continuously recycled, which is an energetically and economically attractive practice, as recycling 1 metric ton of steel from scrap conserves approximately 1030 kg of iron ore, 580 kg of coal, and 50 kg of limestone. Because of its magnetic properties, it can be easily separated from accompanying materials, allowing the steel to return to foundries in a high state of purity. Basic oxygen and electric-arc furnaces are usually employed for this purpose.
It can be stored in big bags, on pallets or pressed in bundles, and in a dry area. It can be transported by rail, truck and/or ship.
The uses and applications of Steel Scrap may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Steel Scrap are bar; plate; powder; ingot; shot; pellet; and others.
Recycled Steel can be used to fabricate new steel products as beams, roofing, ductwork, plumbing, and windows. Recycling rates, in the United States, were estimated to be 98% for structural steel from construction, 88% for appliances, 71% for rebar and reinforcement steel, and 70% for steel packaging.
