The uses and applications of Polyether may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Polyether are resin grade; commercial grade; liquid crystal polymer (LCP) grade; molding grade; and flame-retardant grade.

About Polyether. Polyether is a class of organic substances produced by polymerized monomers by ether links which may be structured in chain or network. It is a diverse group of polymers most notably polyethylene glycols, polypropylene glycols, epoxy resins and phenoxy resins.

Polyethers vary in their composition, so transportation and storage can change depending on specific formulations. Normally, transportation is done using 20 kg steel pails, 200 kg steel drums, in stainless steel tanks cars or tank trucks. Sometimes the containers are equipped with heating coils, to maintain the product in the liquid state or to present freezing.

Raw materials and the respective production processes employed in the manufacturing of Polyether are listed below.

  • Glycerin + propylene oxide + acrylic acid (epoxidation, followed by ester formation),
  • Epichlorohydrin elastomers (slurry process, using aluminum based catalyst),
  • Trimethylpropane + ethylene oxide + ammonia (epoxidation, followed by ammonization)

The uses and applications of Polyether may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Polyether are resin grade; commercial grade; liquid crystal polymer (LCP) grade; molding grade; and flame-retardant grade.
