Tribasic Calcium Phosphate
Tricalcium Phosphate (a.k.a. TCP, Tribasic Calcium Phosphate, Bone Phosphate of Lime) is a calcium salt of phosphoric acid. It appears as a white crystalline powder, insoluble in water and organic solvents, but soluble in hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. TCP is produced commercially by treating hydroxyapatite with phosphoric acid and slaked lime, or heating a mixture of a calcium pyrophosphate and calcium carbonate. TCP is used in powdered spices as an anticaking agent, in baby powder, and as a nutritional supplement.
The uses and applications of Tricalcium Phosphate may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Tricalcium Phosphate are analytical grade; reagent grade; and technical grade.

Updated Reports Examining Tricalcium Phosphate Manufacturing Costs

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Tricalcium Phosphate manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Tricalcium Phosphate process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Tricalcium Phosphate production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).

Tricalcium Phosphate Production

This report presents the economics of Tricalcium Phosphate (TCP) from phosphate rock, phosphoric acid, and soda ash in the United States, via a typical calcination process. In the process examined, phosphate rock is mixed with soda ash and sent to grinding and pelletization. Phosphoric acid is added and the product is calcinated, producing TCP.

Calcium Ammonium Nitrate Production

This report presents the economics of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) production from ammonia, nitric acid, and lime meal in the United States, via a typical neutralization under pressure process. In this process, nitric acid is neutralized with ammonia producing ammonium nitrate. Lime meal is added in the granulation step for CAN production.

The cost analyses presented in the report CAN E11A target a 600 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

NPK Fertilizer Production (Phosphonitric Process)

This report presents the economics of a typical phosphonitric process for NPK Fertilizer production in the United States from rock phosphate, phosphoric acid, ammonia, and nitric acid. Initially, rock phosphate is digested with nitric acid and phosphoric acid. The NP solution generated is then neutralized with gaseous ammonia. To produce NPK potassium chloride or sulfate is finally admixed. The product formulation is 15-15-15 (15% N, 15% P2O5, 15% K2O).

Details: 300 kta United States-based plant   |   Q1 2024   |   107 pages From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report NPK E11A target a 300 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.

The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.

Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
