Titanium Tetrachloride
TiCl4
Titanium Tetrachloride is a colorless to pale yellow liquid widely produced as an intermediate chemical during manufacturing of titanium dioxide via chloride process. The uses of TiCl4 are increasing, being used in most titanium metal production, as well as catalysts, pearlescent pigments, certain plastics and films. Titanium tetrachloride is not found naturally in the environment and its production is carried out from the chlorination of titanium-containing minerals such as rutile and ilmenite.
The uses and applications of Titanium Tetrachloride may vary according to its specification. Typically, Titanium Tetrachloride is traded with a 99.9% minimum purity. However, other specifications are: SAJ first grade (purity greater than 97.0%); technical grade; and chemically pure grade.

Updated Reports Examining Titanium Tetrachloride Manufacturing Costs

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Titanium Tetrachloride manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Titanium Tetrachloride process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Titanium Tetrachloride production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).

Titanium Tetrachloride Production from Synthetic Rutile

is study comprises a techno-economic analysis of an industrial process for Titanium Tetrachloride production from synthetic rutile in a United States-based facility. In this process, synthetic rutile is chlorinated in a fluid-bed reactor. Subsequently, the product from reaction is condensed and purified to produce Titanium Tetrachloride.

Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.

The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.

Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
