In this process, hydrogen sulfide contained in the feed gas is burned, forming to sulfur dioxide and water. Sulfur dioxide is converted to sulfur trioxide and then cooled to a temperature where it reacts with water in the gas phase and forms sulfuric acid, which is then condensed and concentrated to about 98 wt%.
