Siloxanes Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Siloxanes Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Siloxanes manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Siloxanes process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Siloxanes production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane Production
This report presents the economics of Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane production via dimethyldichlorosilanes hydrolysis. The study assumes a conventional plant located in the United States receiving a feed of dimethyldichlorosilanes. Cyclization is performed by heating the hydrolysis mixture with potassium hydroxide.
Details: 140 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $1,999 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Siloxanes E11A target a 140 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Hexamethyldisiloxane Production
In this study, the economics of Hexamethyldisiloxane production is analyzed. The analysis assumes a plant located in the United States receiving trimethylchlorosilane and generating Hexamethyldisiloxane via hydrolysis of the starting material.
Details: 8 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Siloxanes E21A target a 8 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Siloxanes. Siloxanes are characterised by a chain of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms. A long chain of siloxane groups is called a silicone or a silicone polymer. Siloxanes differ in molecular weight, shape and functional chemical groups attached to the siliconoxygen backbone. The most important siloxane building block is the dimethyl-siloxane group, a large size group (10 atoms per unit), with moderate ability to accept hydrogen bonds. These characteristics lead to differences in their capacity to interact with the environment such as water and organic carbon in soil/sediment and lipids in biota, compared to carbon-based hydrophobic organic compounds. Siloxanes are used in sealants, adhesives, coatings, plastics, cosmetics, medical devices, hygiene products, food contact materials, and other industrial applications.
Siloxanes Uses. Siloxanes are used in sealants, adhesives, coatings, plastics, cosmetics, medical devices, hygiene products, food contact materials, silicone chain termination reagent, and other industrial applications.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
