Silica Gel Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Silica Gel Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Silica Gel manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Silica Gel process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Silica Gel production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Silica Gel Production
This report presents the economics of Silica Gel production from sodium silicate and hydrochloric acid in the United States. Initially, sodium silicate is neutralized with hydrochloric acid, forming silica hydrosol. This hydrosol is then washed and dried, producing silica hydrogel.

About Silica Gel. Silica Gel (a.k.a. Silicon dioxide) is an inorganic compound, an amorphous form of silicon dioxide. It is a white, spherical, porous solid, with a range of particle sizes. Silica gel is usually classified depending on its density, as regular, intermediate and low types. It was discovered in the 1640s, however it only began industrial production in the beginning of the nineteenth century. The gel exhibits a high capacity to absorb water and other polar compounds due to its highly porous structure. These characteristics make water absorption silica gel’s primary use.
Silica Gel Uses. The uses and applications of Silica Gel may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Silica Gel are mesh size 2-8; mesh size 6-16; mesh size 14-20; mesh size 14-42; mesh size 28-200; and mesh size 200-325.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
