Reformate (a.k.a. Aromatic Reformate, High-Octane Liquid Products, Reformed Petroleum Naphtha) is a high-octene liquid, which is the major source of aromatics, such as BTX (benzene, toluene, and xylene) compounds. It is obtained, primarily, from catalytic reforming processes of petroleum derivatives.
Reformate is mainly used in motor fuel production and aromatics production. Low-octane naphtha feeds are usually converted to a Reformate used as high-octane liquid gasoline blending component. Naphtha feeds are usually reformed under more severe conditions when the goal is to produce aromatics from the Reformate.
