Polytrimethylene Terephthalate
Polytrimethylene Terephthalate
PTT
Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (a.k.a. PTT) is an aromatic polyester that can be employed in textile and carpet fiber applications since it presents a set of properties quite suitable for such applications. It is a semicrystalline polymer that has many of the same advantages as its polyester cousins, PBT and PET. Polytrimethylene Terephthalate is produced by reacting 1,3-propanediol with terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate.
PTT is used mainly in the manufacture of fabrics and yarns with strenght, elasticity, high abrasion and wrinkle resistance. Because of its good dimensional stability and finishing qualities it is also employed in engineering applications, such as automotive parts and mobile phone housings.

Updated Reports Examining Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Manufacturing Costs

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Polytrimethylene Terephthalate process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2024).

Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Production from TPA and Propanediol

This report presents the economics of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) production from terephthalic acid (TPA) and propanediol via a process similar to Degussa (now Evonik) technology. This process employs a direct esterification of terephthalic acid and 1,3-propanediol to make PTT. The economic assessment assumes a plant located in the United States.

The cost analyses presented in the report PTT E11A target a 60 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Production from TPA and Glucose

This report presents the economics of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) production from terephthalic acid (TPA) and glucose in the United States. The process portrayed in the report combines a process similar to DuPont process for generating propanediol from glucose and a process similar to Degussa (now Evonik) process for producing PTT from propanediol and terephthalic acid.

Details: 50 kta United States-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report PTT E21A target a 50 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Polytrimethylene Terephthalate Production from TPA and Raw Sugar

This report presents the economics of Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) production from terephthalic acid and raw sugar in the United States. The process portrayed in the report combines a process similar to DuPont process for generating propanediol from raw sugar and a process similar to Degussa (now Evonik) process for producing PTT from propanediol and terephthalic acid.

Details: 50 kta Germany-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report PTT E31B target a 50 kta (kilometric tons per annum) Germany-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.

The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.

Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
