Polybutylene Terephthalate Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Polybutylene Terephthalate Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Polybutylene Terephthalate manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Polybutylene Terephthalate process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Polybutylene Terephthalate production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Polybutylene Terephthalate Production
This report presents the economics of Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) production from dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) in the United States, via a typical transesterification/polycondensation process. In this process, DMT is transesterified with 1,4-butanediol followed by polycondensation, yielding PBT.
Details: 65 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report PBT E11A target a 65 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Dimethyl Terephthalate from p-Xylene and Methanol
This report examines the costs related to Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT) production from p-xylene and methanol in the United States, via typical oxidation and esterification processes. In this process, operations theoretically take place in alternate oxidation and esterification (with methanol) phases. P-xylene is oxidized to p-toluic acid, which is converted to p-methyl toluate, then to methyl terephthalate and ,finally, to DMT.
Details: 100 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $1,199 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report DMT E11A target a 100 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Methanol Production from Natural Gas (Combined Reforming)
This study presents the economics of large-scale Methanol production from natural gas in the United States. In this process, natural gas is first converted into synthesis gas (syngas) by means of conventional steam reforming and secondary autothermal reforming. Then, the syngas is converted into Methanol.
Details: 1,700 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Methanol E12A target a 1,700 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Paraxylene from Toluene (STDP with Aluminosilicate Zeolite Catalyst)
This study presents the economics of a toluene disproportionation process similar to PxMax developed by ExxonMobil for p-Xylene production in the United States.
Details: 450 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Paraxylene E21A target a 450 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Polybutylene Terephthalate. Polybutylene Terephthalate (a.k.a. PBT) is a crystalline thermoplastic polyester resin with qualities ideally suited to an injection molding resin. PBT has similar properties and composition to polyethylene terephthalate. It is obtained by polycondensation of terephthalic acid or 1,4-butanediol with dimethyl terephthalate.
Polybutylene Terephthalate Uses. The uses and applications of Polybutylene Terephthalate may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Polybutylene Terephthalate are FDA grade; and USDA grade.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
