Polybutadiene (a.k.a. BR, Butadiene Rubber) is a synthetic rubber made from monomer 1,3-butadiene. Being one of the largest volume synthetic rubber produced, this elastomeric polymer can have a variety of different properties depending on the ratio of its microstructural units and its tacticity. It is mostly used in the manufacture of tires due to its resistance to wear. Tire production consumes about 70% of the polybutadiene produced worldwide. It is also used to improve mechanical properties of some plastics, especially high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS).
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Polybutadiene production. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (2019/20).
