Benzenol
Phenol (a.k.a. Carbolic Acid, Benzenol) is an organic compound. It is found as a white, crystalline solid with a characteristic odor and burning taste. It is very soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene and chloroform. The solubility in water is limited below 65°C. Above this temperature, phenol and water are miscible. An interesting characteristic is that it gradually turns pink when exposed to light or heat.
The uses and applications of Phenol may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Phenol are molten liquid and aqueous solution.

Updated Reports Examining Phenol Manufacturing Costs

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Phenol manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Phenol process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Phenol production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2024).

Phenol Production from Cumene

This report presents a feasibility analysis of Phenol production from cumene in the United States using a typical hydroperoxidation process. In this process, cumene is oxidized with air to cumene hydroperoxide, which is then cleft to produce Phenol and acetone.

Details: 200 kta United States-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $799 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Phenol E11A target a 200 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Phenol Production from Toluene

This study reviews the economics of a process producing Phenol from toluene. Initially, toluene is oxidized to benzoic acid intermediate in liquid phase, which is then converted to Phenol in the liquid phase in the presence of cupric and magnesium benzoates. The economic analysis presented assumes a plant constructed in the United States.

Details: 50 kta United States-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Phenol E21A target a 50 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Phenol Production from Benzene and Hydrogen Peroxide

This study presents the economics of Phenol production from benzene and hydrogen peroxide in the United States using a process similar to the one proposed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. In this process, benzene is directly oxidized with hydrogen peroxide to Phenol, using a vanadyl pyrophosphate catalyst.

Details: 50 kta United States-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $999 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Phenol E31A target a 50 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Phenol Production from Benzene and Propylene

This report presents a feasibility analysis of Phenol production from cumene in the United States using a typical hydroperoxidation process. Initially this process, benzene is subjected to an alkylation reaction with propylene to produce cumene, which is oxidized with air to cumene hydroperoxide. This intermediate is then cleft to yield Phenol and acetone.

Details: 220 kta United States-based plant   |   Q2 2024   |   107 pages   From $1,199 USD

The cost analyses presented in the report Phenol E41A target a 220 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.

The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.

Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
