NP Fertilizer Production Costs - Q2 2023
NP Fertilizer Operating Costs & Plants Capital Investment
NP Fertilizer (a.k.a. NP) is a compounding mineral fertilizer with two components: nitrogen and phosphorus. Fertilizers are products that improve the levels of available plant nutrients and/or the chemical and physical properties of soil, thereby directly or indirectly enhancing plant growth, yield, and quality. The main fertilizers of the NP class are monoammonium phosphate (MAP) and diammonium phosphate (DAP), which are soluble in water.
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining NP Fertilizer production costs. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2023).
NP Fertilizer Production
This report presents the economics of a typical nitrophosphate process (Odda process) for NP Fertilizer production in the United States from rock phosphate, ammonia, carbon dioxide, and nitric acid. In this process, phosphate rock is digested with nitric acid. Calcium nitrate tetrahydrate is then crystallized and separated. The remaining solution is neutralized with ammonia, generating NP. The product formulation is 22-22-0 (22% N, 22% P2O5, 0% K2O).

Ammonia Production from Natural Gas (Combined Reforming)
This report presents the economics of Ammonia production from natural gas in the United States using a process similar to KBR Purifier process. In the process examined, syngas is initially produced from natural gas via a combined reforming. The syngas is purified through several steps into nitrogen and hydrogen which are synthesized to ammonia.

The cost analyses presented in the report Ammonia E21A target a 800 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate Production
This report presents the economics of Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) production from ammonia, nitric acid, and lime meal in the United States, via a typical neutralization under pressure process. In this process, nitric acid is neutralized with ammonia producing ammonium nitrate. Lime meal is added in the granulation step for CAN production.
Details: 600 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2023 | 107 pages From $999 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report CAN E11A target a 600 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
NPK Fertilizer Production (Phosphonitric Process)
This report presents the economics of a typical phosphonitric process for NPK Fertilizer production in the United States from rock phosphate, phosphoric acid, ammonia, and nitric acid. Initially, rock phosphate is digested with nitric acid and phosphoric acid. The NP solution generated is then neutralized with gaseous ammonia. To produce NPK potassium chloride or sulfate is finally admixed. The product formulation is 15-15-15 (15% N, 15% P2O5, 15% K2O).
