Isophthalic Acid (a.k.a. PIA) is an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, isomer of phthalic acid and terephthalic acid. It appears as a stable, intractable solid with low solubility in most solvents. PIA is manufactured by oxidation of m-xylene , using a cobalt-manganese catalyst. It is used as precursor to commercially important polymers, in the production of resins for drink plastic bottles, in the high-performance polymer polybenzimidazole production process, and as an important input to produce insulation materials.
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Isophthalic Acid production. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2019).
