Isophthalic Acid Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Isophthalic Acid Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Isophthalic Acid manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Isophthalic Acid process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Isophthalic Acid production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Purified Isophthalic Acid Production
This feasibility study provides the costs associated with the construction of a plant in the United States for the production of Isophthalic Acid (IPA) from m-xylene using a typical liquid-phase oxidation process. The process targeted in this report comprises m-xylene oxidation, crude Isophthalic Acid recovery and further purification via hydrogenation for obtaining Purified Isophthalic Acid.
Details: 120 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report IPA E11A target a 120 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Crude Isophthalic Acid Production
This study concerns Isophthalic Acid production from m-xylene using a typical liquid-phase oxidation process. This report comprises m-xylene oxidation and crude Isophthalic Acid recovery, but does not include a section for Isophthalic Acid purification via hydrogenation. Crude Isophthalic Acid is the end-product of this process.
Details: 120 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report IPA E21A target a 120 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Isophthalic Acid. Isophthalic Acid (a.k.a. PIA) is an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, isomer of phthalic acid and terephthalic acid. It appears as a stable, intractable solid with low solubility in most solvents. PIA is manufactured by oxidation of m-xylene , using a cobalt-manganese catalyst. It is used as precursor to commercially important polymers, in the production of resins for drink plastic bottles, in the high-performance polymer polybenzimidazole production process, and as an important input to produce insulation materials.
Isophthalic Acid Uses. The uses and applications of Isophthalic Acid may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Isophthalic Acid are 82 wt% Isophthalic Acid and 98.5 wt% Isophthalic Acid.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
