Isodecanol Cost of Production | Q2 2024
Updated Reports Examining Isodecanol Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Isodecanol manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Isodecanol process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Isodecanol production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2024).
Isodecanol Production
This report presents the economics of Isodecanol production from nonenes in a typical industrial process based on cobalt catalyst. Initially, nonenes are submitted to hydroformylation to form the respectives C10 aldehydes. The aldehydes are then hydrogenated to the corresponding C10 alcohols. The industrial plant is located in the United States.

2-Ethylhexanol Production from Propylene and Syngas
This report presents the economics of 2-Ethylhexanol (2-EH) production from propylene and syngas located in the United States. Initially, propylene reacts with syngas in a hydroformylation reaction, yielding n-butyraldehyde. This step uses a conventional OXO-alcohol technology. Then, the n-butyraldehyde is submitted to an aldolization, and is subsequently dehydrated to 2-ethylpropylacrolein (EPA). Finally, the EPA is hydrogenated, yielding 2-EH.

The cost analyses presented in the report 2-EH E11A target a 160 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
2-Propylheptanol Production from Butenes and Syngas
This report presents the economics of 2-Propylheptanol (2-PH) production from butenes and syngas located in the United States. Initially, butenes react with syngas in a hydroformylation reaction, yielding n-valeraldehyde. This step uses a conventional OXO-alcohol technology. Then, the valeraldehyde is submitted to an aldolization, forming 2-Propyl-2-heptenal and water. Finally, the 2-Propyl-2-heptenal is hydrogenated, yielding 2-PH.

The cost analyses presented in the report 2-PH E11A target a 120 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Isopropyl Alcohol Production from RG Propylene
This report presents the economics of Isopropyl Alcohol production from refinery grade (RG) propylene via a typical indirect propylene hydration process. In this process, RG propylene reacts with sulfuric acid to form isopropyl alcohol sulfates. Those sulfates are then reacted with water to form Isopropanol. The study assumes a plant located in the United States.
Details: 200 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Isopropanol E11A target a 200 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Isodecanol. Isodecanol (a.k.a. isodecyl alcohol) is a higher aliphatic alcohol. Following esterification with dicarboxylic acids. Isodecanol yield synthetic ester oils with outstanding properties. It is also a starting material for a wide range of derivatives, which are employed as textile auxiliaries, stabilizers, flotation agents, and antifoaming agents, and are used in detergents, lubricants, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and pesticides (esters with 2,4-dichloro- and 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid are herbicides). Isodecyl is produced from the oligomerization of propylene and butenes with phosphoric acid, yielding olefins up to C15, which are then hydrated, resulting in a mixture of higher alcohols, including Isodecyl.
Isodecanol Uses. The uses and applications of Isodecanol may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Isodecanol are technical grade (mixed isomers).
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
