Hydrogen Cyanide Cost of Production | Q2 2024
Updated Reports Examining Hydrogen Cyanide Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Hydrogen Cyanide manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Hydrogen Cyanide process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Hydrogen Cyanide production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q2 2024).
Hydrogen Cyanide from Ammonia and Natural Gas (With Air)
This study provides the economics of Hydrogen Cyanide production in the United States using a direct synthesis method similar to Andrussow process, which involves the reaction of ammonia, methane (natural gas), and air to produce HCN.

Ammonia Production from Natural Gas (Combined Reforming)
This report presents the economics of Ammonia production from natural gas in the United States using a process similar to KBR Purifier process. In the process examined, syngas is initially produced from natural gas via a combined reforming. The syngas is purified through several steps into nitrogen and hydrogen which are synthesized to ammonia.
Details: 800 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2024 | 108 pages From $1,199 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Ammonia E21A target a 800 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
DL-Methionine from Methional and Hydrogen Cyanide
This report provides the economics of DL-Methionine production from methional and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in the United States via a typical carbonate process. Initially, methional is reacted with HCN, ammonia and carbon dioxide to produce 5-(2-methylmercaptoethyl)-hydantoin (MMEH), which is hydrolyzed to potassium methioninate (KMET). Finally, the KMET is acidified, liberating methionine.
Details: 150 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2024 | 108 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Methionine E11A target a 150 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Methyl Methacrylate Production from Acetone, NH3 and Natural Gas
This report presents the economics of a process similar to Evonik Aveneer for Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) production from acetone and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in the United States. Initially, HCN is produced from ammonia (NH3) and natural gas in an on-site unit. Then, acetone and methanol are used as raw materials for the production of MMA in six main steps, which are described in the report.
Details: 120 kta United States-based plant | Q2 2024 | 107 pages From $1,499 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report MMA E11A target a 120 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Hydrogen Cyanide. Hydrogen Cyanide (a.k.a. HCN, Prussic Acid, Hydrocyanic Acid) is a chemical precursor used in the production of several industrially relevant compounds, from polymers to pharmaceuticals. Hydrogen Cyanide is a volatile, flammable and highly toxic gas in temperatures above 25 ºC. Otherwise, it is a dangerous transparent liquid; its storage and transport are prohibited in certain locations.
Hydrogen Cyanide Uses. The uses and applications of Hydrogen Cyanide may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Hydrogen Cyanide are technical grade (96-99.5% purity); 5 and 10% aqueous solutions; 2% USP grade solution; and gas. All grades usually contain a stabilizer to prevent decomposition.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
