This report presents an up-to-date, detailed cost analysis of Polymer Grade (PG) Ethylene production from methane. The process examined is a typical oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) process. In this plant, two methane molecules are coupled to form ethane, which is then dehydrogenated yielding PG Ethylene. Carbon monoxide generated is submitted to a methanation reaction, recovering methane to be recycled in the process.
