Cefalotin (also known as Cephalothin) is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, highly effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It can be administered to penicilin-sensitive patients. It is commonly supplied as a Sodium Cefalotin, which is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water, formamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, ethylene and propylene glycol, slightly soluble in lower alcohols, and insoluble in non-polar organic solvents. Cefalotin is obtained through a semisynthetic route: celasphorin C is produced by a fungus identified as Cephalosporium acremonium, and is then reacted with thiophene-2-acetyl chloride, resulting in the product.
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand reports examining Cefalotin production. Each study describes an industrial plant, including main process units and site infrastructure, and presents an independent analysis of capital and operating costs. All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (2019/20).
