Butylene
Butene (a.k.a. Butenes, Butylene) refers to a range of linear isomeric olefins (1-butene, cis-2-butene, trans-2-butene). It a colorless, flammable mixture, insoluble in water, but soluble in most organic compounds. The isomers hardly occur naturally and have been known since the end of the nineteenth century. They are usually coproduced as a single mixture and are formed as byproducts of petroleum cracking for gasoline manufacture or catalytic dehydrogenation of butanes. For this reason, butenes production grew rapidly with the growth of cracking processes.
The uses and applications of Butene may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Butene are technical grade (95% minimum purity); chemically pure (CP, 99% minimum purity); and research grade (99.4% for 1-butene, 99.8% for cis-butene-2 and 99.9% for trans-butene-2).

Updated Reports Examining Butene Manufacturing Costs

Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Butene manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Butene process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Butene production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).

Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.

The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.

Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
