Barium Chloride Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Barium Chloride Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Barium Chloride manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Barium Chloride process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Barium Chloride production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Barium Chloride Production
This report presents the economics of a typical Barium Chloride production process from baryte, calcium chloride, and coke in the United States. In this process, baryte reacts directly with coke and calcium chloride, forming barium chloride.

About Barium Chloride. Barium Chloride is one of the most common water-soluble salts of barium, appearing as colorless to white crystals or colorless monoclinic plates. On an industrial scale, production of barium chloride is carried out by the reaction of barium sulfide solution with hydrochloric acid. Alternatively, the reaction of barium sulfide solution with chlorine is of commercial interest. Along with other chlorides, Barium Chloride is used as a component of melt quenching baths for steel. It is also employed as a starting material for the production of sulfide-free blanc fixe grades and, instead of barium carbonate, to remove sulfate from solutions. Finally, it has a limited importance as a stabilizer for plastics.
Barium Chloride Uses. The uses and applications of Barium Chloride may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Barium Chloride are technical grade (crystals or powdered with 99-99.5% purity); ACS reagent crystal grade; and chemically pure
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
