Alpha-Cyclodextrin Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Alpha-Cyclodextrin Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Alpha-Cyclodextrin manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Alpha-Cyclodextrin process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Alpha-Cyclodextrin production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Alpha-Cyclodextrin Production from Corn (Chemical Precipitation)
This report presents the economics of alpha-Cyclodextrin production from corn in the United States, using a solvent process. Initially, corn starch is hydrolyzed to dextrin by alpha-amylase. Then, dextrin is enzimatically converted to cyclodextrins. Added decanol forms a complex with alpha-cyclodextrin and precipitates. Finally, the complex is cleaved and alpha-cyclodextrin is obtained.
Details: 1 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $1,999 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Alpha-Cyclodextrin E11A target a 1 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Alpha-Cyclodextrin Production from Corn (Adsorption)
It presents the economics of alpha-Cyclodextrin production from corn in the United States. Initially, corn starch is hydrolyzed to dextrin by alpha-amylase. Then, dextrin is enzimatically converted to cyclodextrins. Alpha-Cyclodextrin is recovered using an adsorption column, in a non-solvent process.

About Alpha-Cyclodextrin. Alpha-Cyclodextrin is a polysaccharide derived from six units of glucose linked end to end via α-1,4 linkages. As all cyclodextrins, it appears as white, water soluble solid with minimal toxicity. It is a multifunctional compound, marketed for use as a fiber ingredient, an odor or flavor masking agent, as emulsificant agent, and for medical and healthcare applications. Cyclodextrins are products of the enzymatic degradation of starch from vegetable materials.
Alpha-Cyclodextrin Uses. Alpha-Cyclodextrin is used in drug delivery,as a complexing agent,in chiral separation methods,as a carrier,stabilizer,absorbent,encapsulation agent,among others.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
