Acrolein Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Acrolein Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Acrolein manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Acrolein process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Acrolein production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Acrolein Production
This report presents the economics of Acrolein production from propylene in the United States, via catalytic oxidation.
Details: 30 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Acrolein E11A target a 30 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

DL-Methionine Production from Acrolein, Methyl Mercaptan and HCN
This report presents the economics of DL-Methionine production from acrolein, methyl mercaptan, and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in the United States. In this process, refined acrolein and methyl mercaptan are reacted to form MMP (also called methional), which is further reacted with HCN to generate DL-Methionine via a typical carbonate process.
Details: 150 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 109 pages From $1,199 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Methionine E41A target a 150 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Methionine Hydroxy Analog from Acrolein, Methyl Mercaptan and HCN
This study presents the economics of Methionine Hydroxy Analog production from acrolein, methyl mercaptan, and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in the United States. In this process, acrolein and methyl mercaptan are reacted to form methional. The methional reacts with HCN to produce hydroxy methylthiobutyronitrile (HMBN) intermediate, which is hydrolyzed to Methionine Hydroxy Analog.
Details: 150 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 109 pages From $1,199 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Methionine E61A target a 150 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Propylene Production from Propane (Moving-Bed Reactor)
This study presents the economics of Polymer Grade (PG) Propylene production from propane. The process consists in the dehydrogenation of propane, carried out in a moving-bed reactor, similar to UOP Oleflex. The economic analysis performed assumes a plant located in the United States.
Details: 550 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 106 pages From $799 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Propylene E31A target a 550 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Acrolein. Acrolein (a.k.a. Propenal) the simplest unsaturated aldehyde, is an important intermediate for numerous substances, like D,L-methionine, methionine hydroxy analog, acrylic acid, and others. It is also used as an effective broad-spectrum biocide. At room temperature, acrolein is a liquid with volatility and flammability somewhat similar to acetone; but unlike acetone, its solubility in water is limited. Acrolein is a highly toxic material with extreme lacrimatory properties.
Acrolein Uses. The uses and applications of Acrolein may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Acrolein are crude Acrolein; and refined Acrolein (min. purity of 95.5 wt%).
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
