Acetone Cost of Production | Q1 2024
Updated Reports Examining Acetone Manufacturing Costs
Intratec offers professional, easy-to-understand Commodity Cost of Production reports analyzing the costs of Acetone manufacturing processes. Each report describes an industrial plant based on a specific Acetone process. The report also presents an independent analysis of the costs of Acetone production, encompassing plant capital costs (capex) and plant operating costs (opex). All reports are based on the most recent economic data available (Q1 2024).
Acetone Production from Propylene (Two-Step Process)
This report presents the economics of a two-step process for Acetone production from propylene in the United States. In the process examined, propylene is hydrated in a catalytic reactor, producing isopropanol. Then, isopropanol is dehydrogenated in a fixed bed catalyst reactor to produce Acetone.
Details: 200 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $1,199 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Acetone E11A target a 200 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Acetone Production from Propylene (Single-Step Process)
This report approaches the economics of Acetone production from propylene in the United States. In the process examined, a direct propylene oxidation is carried out in the presence of palladium chloride and copper chloride, yielding Acetone.
Details: 80 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $999 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Acetone E12A target a 80 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.
Acetone Production from Isopropanol
This feasibility study presents the economics of Acetone production from isopropanol using a liquid phase dehydrogenation process. The economic analysis presented in the study assumes a plant located in the United States.
Details: 30 kta United States-based plant | Q1 2024 | 107 pages From $999 USD
The cost analyses presented in the report Acetone E21A target a 30 kta (kilometric tons per annum) United States-based plant. For those interested in cost analyses considering other plant capacities and/or locations, Intratec offers a customized analysis as an optional feature.

About Acetone. Acetone (a.k.a. Propanone, Dimethyl Ketone) is a colorless, volatile, flammable liquid with a characteristic odor and it is miscible with water and most organic solvents. It is the simplest and most important of the ketones. Acetone occurs naturally in forests and as breakdown product of animal metabolism. Propanone was first produced by alchemists between the 13th and 15th century; however, its formula was only discovered in 1833, with industrial production beginning in 1999.
Acetone Uses. The uses and applications of Acetone may vary according to its specification. The main forms of Acetone are high purity; specially analyzed; analytical reagent grade; chromatography grade; and spectrophotometric grade.
Intratec Methodology. Intratec distilled its expertise, gained from more than a decade of supporting companies worldwide in the analysis of commodities markets and process economics, and developed a consistent report development methodology.
The methodology ensures a holistic, coherent, and consistent techno-economic evaluation, guiding the development of a report that allows readers to fully understand a specific process technology for the production of a commodity. In addition to being based on a common methodology, all Intratec reports that approach industrial processes have a common structure, i.e., indexes, tables and charts share similar standards. This ensures that Intratec’s readers know upfront what they will get and, more than that, will be able to compare technologies addressed in different reports.
Our methodology is continuously tested and proven by the many corporations involved with the commodities sector, R&D centers, EPC companies, financial institutions and government agencies that rely on our reports.
